Quick and clear first-aid tips for travelers.

Why we like it -- Medical issues are troublesome no matter where you are, but when you’re traveling in an unfamiliar or isolated spot, such things can be especially frightening. iMedjet offers an index of 10 health-related categories, like life-threatening emergencies or issues related to extreme heat or altitude, along with tips on how to manage those issues.

The tips are easy to navigate and easy to understand, and they come from a trusted source, the Comprehensive Guide to Wilderness and Travel Medicine. The bonus: All the information is held within the app, so it works without a network connection.

Improvements we’d like to see -- Free apps commonly come with advertisements, and iMedjet is no exception. The ads inside this app are far less intrusive than the pop-up banners that mar other apps, but they can still be annoying. Also, depending on your device, you can pinch-and-zoom to enlarge iMedjet’s tiny print, but the app would be much better if you could change the print sizes to suit your preferences. Finally, as the app lacks a BlackBerry version, it’s out of the reach of many travelers.
