Plaza de Espana

Does Seville’s Plaza de Espana look familiar? The square — located on the edge of Maria Luisa Park — has been used as a filming location for movies such as "Lawrence of Arabia", "The Dictator", "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" and "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones." Designed by Anibal Gonzalez, the Plaza de Espana has tiled alcoves that each represent a different province of Spain. Today, it is home to museums and government buildings.

Plaza del Triunfo

Located right beside the Cathedral of Seville, Plaza del Triunfo features a monument to the Virgin Mary.

La Feria de Abril de Sevilla (Seville Spring Fair)

Lasting six days and seven nights, this colorful fair is held every April. Locals and tourists alike gather to eat, drink and be merry.

Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza

Bullfighting is a staple of Spanish culture. At the Maestranza arena, visitors can see a bullfight or explore a museum dedicated to the sport.

The Alcazar

The upper levels of the Alcazar of Seville are home to the royal family, making it the oldest European royal palace still in use. The Alcazar was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, and it is well-renowned as one of the most beautiful palaces in Spain. Explore the history of this amazing complex for a small entrance fee, about $10.

Cathedral of Seville

The Cathedral of Seville is a majestic and historic Roman Catholic church. Inside, visitors can see the tomb of Christopher Columbus.

The Mudejar Pavilion

The Mudejar Pavilion, located in Maria Luisa Park, is home to the Museum of Arts and Traditions. The building is an excellent example of the area’s Mudejar, or Muslim, architecture.

Maria Luisa Park

Maria Luisa Park is the most famous public park in Seville. The vast green space features several monuments, the Plaza de Espana and the Mudejar Pavilion.

Teatro de la Maestranza

This opera house and concert hall hosts talented performers, musicians and dancers.

Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium

Seville’s soccer club, the Sevilla Futbol Club, plays at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. The large venue holds up to 45,500 fans.

Metropol Parasol

Metropol Parasol is the coolest wooden architectural structure in Spain. Designed by German architect Jurgen Mayer-Hermann, this arch brings modernity to the old quarter of Seville.

Museum of Fine Arts of Seville

The Museum of Fine Arts contains precious Spanish works from medieval times to the 20th century. Admiring the architecture of the building itself is half the experience.
