From the looks of this place, you can expect more than laser tag to entertain the kids — although WonderWorks has that, too. In fact, we're pretty sure there are some adults who wouldn't mind piloting a fighter jet, riding a 360-degree virtual roller coaster or lying on a bed of 3,500 nails.

ATV Adventure Tours

With Carolina Backwoods, you can choose between the "Down 'n Dirty" or "High 'n Semi-Dry" guided tours, which are more family-friendly than they sound. In fact, riders under 12 can ride on the back of another ATV, so the whole family can go as fast (and get as muddy) as they like.

Broadway at the Beach

Since its inception in 1996, Broadway at the Beach has become Myrtle's most popular destination and it's easy to see why. Looking for shops? It has 100. Theaters? Try three. And last but not least, there’s plenty of dining. Expect classics like the Hard Rock Cafe and Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville as well as family favorites like Paula Deen's Family Kitchen.

Second Ave Pier

On the south end of the boardwalk, this 75-year-old landmark is famous for its fishing thanks to a wide variety of catch. Newly renovated, the Second Ave Pier's restaurant offers fresh seafood, spectacular views through its giant bay windows and a top-floor, open-air bar.

The Golf Capital of the World

Before you challenge your golf game, you'll have to choose from Myrtle Beach's 100 courses. Don't miss the Grand Dunes. With newly upgraded Champion Bermuda greens and seven holes, as well as beautiful views of the Intracoastal Waterway, it’s one of the premier championship golf courses on the East Coast.

Barefoot Landing

With over 100 shops and restaurants around Louis Lake, Barefoot Landing's complex still has the feeling of a quaint fishing village. The adjoining Alabama Theater, House of Blues and Alligator Adventure (one of the largest reptile zoos in the world) also provide plenty of entertainment.

Pirates Voyage

You’ve heard of Dixie Stampede and Medieval Times, but there’s a new dinner theater in town. Come aboard the Pirates Voyage for mermaids, acrobatic pirates, live sea lions... what more could you want? Make sure to get here for the pre-show - the kids will love it.

Water Sports

Whether you’re racing jet skis, sailing high above the sea in a parasail or clinging on to a banana boat for dear life — your vacation won’t be complete without a little daredevil action on the water.

Family Kingdom Amusement Park

"Myrtle Beach’s only seaside amusement park," Family Kingdom boasts 30 rides, from the classic 110-foot free-fall Log Flume to the newly-opened Twist 'n Shout steel roller coaster.

Brookgreen Gardens

Take a guided tour or explore on your own to see why Brookgreen Gardens has been named one of the top 10 public gardens in the U.S. by TripAdvisor. With a world-renowned art collection and a native-animal zoo on the grounds, there’s something for everyone.

Ripley’s Aquarium

Ripley's Aquarium doesn’t disappoint. As you glide on a 330-foot moving path through "Dangerous Reef," you’ll be surrounded by 10-foot sharks, stingrays and a giant sea turtle.

Franklin Burroughs Art Museum

At any given time in the Art Museum of Myrtle Beach there are six to eight contemporary art exhibits, a permanent collection of regional artwork and art classes tailored to children and adults. Stop by the gift shop to pick up work by local artisans and then relax in the tea room, which wraps along the front of the 1924-converted beach cottage and overlooks the ocean.

Carolina Opry

If you’re only going to see one show in Myrtle, see the original. The Opry offers everything from bluegrass and country to rock 'n' roll and Broadway hits — as well as a Christmas show so popular it’s often sold-out by June.
