Here's Everything New Coming to Disney World in 2019
Hold on to your Mickey ears. There are so many attractions opening this year, from new rides and park expansions to a brand-new way to float around the parks.
Walt Disney World
2019 is a big year for Disney World. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Mickey and Minnie are celebrating their 90th birthdays. And park goers around the world are anxiously awaiting the new Star Wars land opening in late fall. If you haven't been to Disney World in a while, 2019 is the year to go. Here are all the can’t-miss attractions.
New Transportation
There are so many ways to get around the parks, from the monorail to Minnie Vans. But this fall, guests will have yet another—and seriously cool—way to get to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. The Disney Skyliner is a new gondola system that allows guests to float high above the parks. The ride to EPCOT will feature never-before-seen views and great photo ops of World Showcase.
New Land
Star Wars fans can now journey to a galaxy far, far away right in Central Florida. The highly-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in late fall. This is a massive park expansion for Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the new land will be incredibly immersive, from piloting the Millenium Falcon to having lunch in Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu.

New Ride
Hollywood Studios is also welcoming the first ride at Walt Disney World to center around the OG characters. Opening this year, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a ride-through experience that will bring 2D animation to life with a brand new story and theme song.

New Entertainment
If your favorite part of Disney is the entertainment, 2019 is your year. There are brand new shows premiering at each park. At Magic Kingdom, guests can celebrate Mickey and Minnie’s 90th birthday with the new “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It!” street party. This fun spectacular goes right down Main Street and features Mickey and Minnie in their confetti-tastic birthday outfits.
Over at Hollywood Studios, a new nighttime spectacular “Wonderful World of Animation” will celebrate 90 years of Disney stories and feature the mouse that started it all. Cars fans can attend the new Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy and see the whole gang from Radiator Springs. And at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the park is celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Lion King with a brand-new “Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party.”
This summer, EPCOT fans will say goodbye to the park’s nighttime show "Illuminations." The 20-year-old show is being replaced next year, but, until then, the park will feature a limited-time fireworks show called “EPCOT Forever” that celebrates the park’s history.
New Experiences
In addition to shows, there are several brand-new experiences coming to Disney. At Hollywood Studios, guests can party with characters from The Incredibles over at Pixar Avenue. Don’t miss your chance to get a photo with Edna Mode. Just remember, “No capes!”
At Disney Springs, basketball fans can geek out at the new NBA Experience. Opening this summer, the attraction will make you feel like you’ve made it to the pros, from walking through the player’s tunnel to stepping out on a modern-day court.
