Located in Hangzhou, China’s silk capitol, the Amanfayun Hotel could be described as a Buddhist wellness center. The property is heavily influenced by monk culture, spirituality and Chinese traditions including calligraphy. Guests can take a workshop with a master artist and learn the basics of this ancient art.

The resort overlooks the dramatic coastline in Rancho Palos Verdes, providing incredible landscapes to observe and paint during the resort’s plein air workshop.

Gullah Basket Weaving

Charleston, S.C. is full of culture, yet too many tourists come to the Low Country and skip learning about Gullah culture. Guests at the historic Andrew Pinckney Inn can learn how to make a basket using ancient Gullah practices with local Gullah artists. At the end of the class, you can take home your basket as a souvenir.

Sarasota, Fla.'s new Art Ovation hotel lives up to its name with tons of on-site classes and workshops for creatives, from jewelry-making to DIY origami folding. The property’s Artist in Residence program provides studio space for emerging local artists, and hotel guests are invited to use the studio should they feel inspired and need a canvas.

Bahamian Culture

Nassau’s Baha Mar resort features a massive collection of Bahamian art in addition to The Current, an on-site studio space for local artists. Guests can attend workshops on Bahamian art, printmaking, abstract painting and more.

The Saguaro Palm Springs in SoCal is an artist's paradise, as the colorful resort hosts several DIY workshops throughout the year. This summer, the Saguaro partnered with makers from the Coachella Valley Art Scene for tech-decorating crafts.
