The Great Pumpkin Farm, Clarence, N.Y.
Come for the pumpkin picking, but stay for the scarecrow-making, pumpkin slingshots, mummy wrapping, and of course, the Cackling-Hen Revue. Every weekend in the fall there’s something new at The Great Pumpkin Farm, whether it's a pumpkin pie eating competition, live music or the tasty barbecue at the Oinktoberfest. The hot pumpkin and apple cider donuts are also a favorite on the weekends.
Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm, Lockport, Illinois
Take a hayride out to the pumpkin field to pick your perfect pumpkin right off the vine. Located one hour from Chicago, plan to spend the entire day at Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm to explore the 15-acre corn maze, climb the tire mountain, ring the bell at the top of the climbing wall and take selfies on the eight-foot wooden rocking chair. Little ones will love the baby chick nursery and the petting zoo.
Tom Thumb Pumpkin Patch, Dallas
At Tom Thumb Pumpkin Patch, more than 90,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash come together to create Pumpkin Village. Kids will love the hay bale maze and scavenger hunts, as well as Cinderella’s Pumpkin Carriage. Located inside the Dallas Arboretum, take time to identify different pumpkin varieties as part of the Great Pumpkin Search.
Vala’s Pumpkin Patch, Gretna, Nebraska
One look at the farm map for Vala’s Pumpkin Patch and you may think you’re at an amusement park rather than a pumpkin farm. There are 50+ attractions, including Graveyard Golf and Stalk Cars, as well as multiple live shows, like the Pigtucky Derby Pig Races. You won’t leave hungry either; from hand-dipped corn dogs to caramel apples to s’mores over a campfire, you’re covered at Vala’s Pumpkin Patch.
Pumpkin Hollow, Piggott, Arkansas
This family-owned farm is one of the leading growers of pumpkins, so you won’t be disappointed by the pumpkin selection at Pumpkin Hollow. You’ll also find Arkansas’s first cornfield maze, as well as a double zip line, pedal tractors and a kids’ barn where children can grind corn and learn about local crops. Don’t leave without sampling the pumpkin pie or pumpkin roll from the Weenie Wag’n.
Craven Farm, Snohomish, Washington
You’ll find more than 30 varieties of pumpkins across the 20-acre pumpkin patch at Craven Farm, so regardless of your "pumpkin personality," you’re bound to find a perfect match. Explore the 15-acre corn maze, then sport a pair of 3-D glasses for the Pumpkin Adventure. On weekends, enjoy a hayride, sling pumpkins to hit targets and enjoy storybook scenes re-created with painted pumpkins.
Cool Patch Pumpkins, Dixon, California
Pick your pumpkins, ride around on pedal cars and take a corn bath before getting lost in the world’s largest corn maze (as certified by Guinness World Records) at Cool Patch Pumpkins. At 60 acres, you may want to bring a snack before entering the corn maze. Fortunately, you’ll find made-to-order sandwiches and pumpkin pie, even lemonade and pumpkin-spice lattes, to hold you over until you exit the maze.
Papa’s Pumpkin Patch, Bismarck, N.D.
Whether you’re content simply picking pumpkins or you want to spend a few hours climbing a pile of tires and shooting a pumpkin cannon, Papa’s Pumpkin Patch is the place to be. There are lots of free activities at the pumpkin patch, like a hay bale maze, and many more activities for a small fee, like horse-drawn hayrides, zip lines and corn cob slingshots. Take selfies with the kids in the 15-foot Great Pumpkin’s Chair.
Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival, Half Moon Bay, California
Known as the "World Pumpkin Capital," Half Moon Bay boasts multiple pick-your-own pumpkin patches, as well as the annual Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival. Keep your eyes open for a five-ton pumpkin sculpture, a parade, a pie-eating contest and a pumpkin fun run along Coastside Trail. As a bonus, kids will love the inflatables just down the road at 4-C’s Pumpkin Patch.
Jumbo’s Pumpkin Patch, Middletown, Maryland
At Jumbo’s Pumpkin Patch, you’ll find a 30-acre pick-your-own pumpkin patch, a 15-acre corn maze, hay rides, a petting zoo and a huge playground. Kids will also love face painting and pony rides on the weekends. There’s almost too much to do at Jumbo’s so plan on at least a half-day to explore this working family farm and take a look at the arts and crafts created by dozens of local artisans.
Lucky Ladd Farms, Eagleville, Tennessee
Named one of the top five pumpkin patches in the South, Lucky Ladd Farms sits about 45 minutes from Nashville. Prepared to be amazed at the variety of shapes and colors at their annual Pumpkin Festival. In between picking time, take a bite out of some tasty fall treats like pumpkin-spice donuts, kettle corn and gourmet caramel apples. Give the kids a chance to roam around the massive playgrounds and petting zoos, and join in on the fun through the tractor-pulled wagon rides.
Linvilla Orchards, Media, Pennsylvania
Linvilla Orchards is packed with over 300 acres of family fun and education. South of Philadelphia, this entertaining farm market is home to the popular Pumpkinland, with over 100 tons of pumpkins on display. Take a harvest hayride throughout the spacious farm or try out a holiday-themed hayride to the witch’s house. Boredom isn't an option here - there's plenty of other attractions to keep you on your toes, ranging from agricultural classes to fishing to indoor mini golf.
Chesterfield Berry Farm & Market, Moseley, Virginia
Along with finding plump pumpkins, you can fulfill your strawberry and blackberry picking needs throughout the seasons at the Chesterfield Berry Farm & Market. Kids and adults will love Chesterfield's annual Fall Festival attractions like hayrides, navigating the eight-acre corn maze and visiting the animal corral. Throughout the vast farmland, you'll find plenty of picturesque backdrops for snapshots of your fall memories.
Baugher’s Orchards, Westminster, Maryland
Buy local, eat fresh and take in a scenic farmland at Baugher's Orchards. In addition to pumpkin picking, Baugher's annual Fall Harvest Festival features pony rides, tasty servings of homemade ice cream and booths for dazzling face paintings. You can also plan a day to pick your own fruit fresh from the fields. Don't forget to stop by the Baugher's restaurant for homestyle country meals and fruit market for more nutritious picks.
Three Cedars Farm, Northville, Michigan
Old-fashioned fun is what you'll find at Three Cedars Farm. You can explore the farm via hayride or train ride, browse through the U-Pick Pumpkin Patch, then stop at the Barnyard Play Land to meet some furry and feathery friends. Take on the challenge of trekking through the seven-acre corn maze with a chance to win a prize at the end. Give yourself an energy boost before by snacking on some sweets at the cider and donut hut.
