Aliens Over NYC?

New Yorkers marvel over a UFO hovering above Chelsea.

Alien fanatics generally head to Roswell, NM, to spot UFOS, but this time it seems the otherworldly travelers brought the action to the Big Apple. UFO believers and even some skeptics are equally thrilled and troubled by the sighting of unidentified flying objects over Manhattan in October 13, 2010.

While some non-believers barely paused to glance up at the sky, many otherwise hardened New Yorkers stopped in their tracks and took to the phones and Twitter to report and search for more information on the shiny objects over Chelsea. According to an article in the UK Daily Mail, numerous calls were placed to the New York Police and the Federal Aviation Authority. However, officials have yet to ascertain exactly what it was that lingered in the air in lower Manhattan. They were clear, however, that these were not scheduled weather balloons on an organized release as reported by the Huffington Post.

While some argue that it was simply a cluster of balloons drifting upward, many others insist they saw shining lights. One witness told the New York Daily News that the objects resembled a jellyfish aglow with lights. The LA Times ponders the connection between the UFOs and claims by retired NORAD military officer Stanley A. Fulham in his recent book “Challenges of Change” that a host of UFOs would descend on major cities.

Coincidence or not, many people are pondering life beyond Earth and wondering if New York is a new target destination for reverse space tourism—aliens heading down to experience life in the big city.
