Whether you’re traveling for work or touring for fun, stay in shape on the road at these top hotel gyms.
The David Barton Gym at the Gansevoort Miami Beach features the largest gym floor on South Beach, with lots of room for group classes and 2 floors dedicated to the latest and greatest cardio equipment. While some hotel packages may include complimentary gym access, guests can pay $15 for a day pass or $30 to sample a unique class including Krav Maga contact combat self-defense (used by the Israeli Defense Forces), the creative Muscle Playground strength-training or a TKO boxing session.
Hotel guests pay a nominal fee for a Texas-sized workout at the swanky Verandah Club at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. With an impressive roster of high-powered members, you may hit the treadmill, step into downward dog or pump iron alongside some of the city’s business elite. In addition to the standard gym fare of top cardio machines and cool classes, there’s an indoor lap pool, 1/4-mile outdoor track, squash and racquetball facilities, full-court basketball and a boxing gym to coax you out of your hotel room.
With its scores of sinful distractions, working out may be the last thing on your mind in Vegas. But you can work off those extreme dinners and get your adrenaline pumping for a night out on the Strip at the Venetian’s swanky Canyon Ranch SpaClub. A day pass is pricy, but offers access to a 40-foot towering indoor rock wall, trendy Kinesis workouts using a system of cables and pulleys to increase strength and flexibility and a selection of classes, including the aptly named “Fit Strip” to master some classic striptease moves of your own.
Gravity, the world-class gym at Le Parker Meridien, makes working out on the road less of a chore with free facilities including racquetball, basketball, a rooftop pool and equipment galore. This gym accommodates busy schedules from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. Extra-busy? Cram in a session with the much-touted Quickie workout program—a 28-minute workout blast—or take more time to explore a host of the hippest cardio, spin, dance, pool and yoga classes.
The Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco partners with the Sports Club/LA-San Francisco to offer complimentary access to topnotch workout facilities with an added bonus—an impressive view of busy Market Street while you burn calories on the treadmill or machines. The gym’s robust program boasts 127,000 square feet of fitness fun including a full basketball court, boxing studio, sports clinics and studios hosting more than 120 classes a week plus yoga, Pilates and spin.
