Scotland is home to tons of magical castles, but one of the most-visited and most-loved by tourists is Brodie Castle. If you fancy a visit to this Highlands gem, you can now stay the night and live like a lavish Laird with three floors of bedrooms, a grand dining room, a regular kitchen and a cocktail kitchen. I have no idea what that is, but it sounds fancy. The castle sleeps up to 14 guests, so it’s perfect for a large family trip or maybe a destination Christmas!

Road trippers love to Instagram Idaho’s retro "Giant Potato," and now you can spend the night! Yep, you can sleep in a giant potato. And I have to say--the interiors are super trendy. Dubbed the Big Idaho Potato Hotel, the potato features one bed and, surprisingly, a teeny, tiny kitchenette. You’ve probably noticed that there isn’t room for a toilet or a shower in the potato, but rest assured the stay includes "a customized silo turned into a spa retreat perfect for soaking while looking up at the stars."

Stay in a Famous Literary Home

Fans of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald can not only visit the literary couple’s former home in Montgomery, AL but stay the night! The historic home turned museum features two themed suites: The Zelda and The Scott. Both are listed on Airbnb for a steal at less than $100 a night. Bonus: Your stay includes complimentary admission to the museum.

Vacation in Rotterdam's Cube Houses

Arguably the most Instagrammed building in Rotterdam, The Cube Houses are definitely worth a visit while in The Netherlands. Designed by structuralist Piet Blom, the series of homes are as intriguing as they are efficient by optimizing space in urban living. Today, the cubes are open as a museum, but there are also a few residences. For modern architecture fans, this is definitely a bucket list stay.

Stay in a Frank Lloyd Wright Home

If you’re a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, you’ve probably done a dozen home tours throughout the country, but have you ever stayed in one of his homes? Located about a mile from Lake Michigan, The Bernard Schultz House is listed on Airbnb and gives fans the chance to actually live Wright’s design in a way you can’t see on a home tour. This home is particularly special because Wright built it based on his "Dream House" design plans in "Life Magazine" in 1938.

Spend the Night in a Historic Georgian Mansion

If you live for historic home tours, pack your bags for Dublin. Built in 1774, "No. 11" on North Great George’s Street is one of the best examples of 18th-century Georgian architecture in the city. The home offers tours to the public, but you can also stay in the renovated first-floor apartment. The Airbnb mixes Georgian antiques with an eclectic flair but also includes luxe modern amenities such as a towel warmer. My wife and I stayed here recently and while some of the apartment’s decor was a little avant-garde for my taste, it is hands down the cleanest Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in. And you can’t argue with the glowing 5-star reviews from other guests--mine included.

Sleep on a Yacht in Seattle

The historic Linmar yacht is iconic to Seattle’s Lake Union and offers day tours throughout Puget Sound and the "Sleepless in Seattle" houseboat neighborhood for tourists, but if you want the real PNW nautical experience, you can also rent the boat on Airbnb for overnight stays. This teak and mahogany stunner sleeps up to eight, and there’s even WiFi and cable TV onboard.

According to the listing, the castle and grounds are open to the public during the day but after 5 p.m. “you have the whole castle to yourselves!” As if that wasn’t cool enough, the castle is just a five-minute walk from Manorbier Beach.
