Ashlan and Philippe Cousteau are ocean explorers, adventurers, environmental advocates and filmmakers with a deep mutual passion for exploration and storytelling. Travel Channel’s “Caribbean Pirate Treasure” follows the married couple as they investigate incredible stories of lost loot and pirates' plunder in some of the world's most beautiful waters, such as Antigua, Dominican Republic and Belize. In 2018, “Caribbean Pirate Treasure” garnered a Cynopsis TV Award for ‘Best Reality Series – Adventure.’
Philippe is the third generation of the legendary Cousteau family. He is an Emmy-nominated TV host, author, speaker and social entrepreneur who has established himself as a prominent leader in the environmental movement. In addition to his Travel Channel series, Philippe serves as the host and executive producer of Awesome Planet (on Fox and Hulu), and host of The Aquatic World of Philippe Cousteau on CNN’s digital platform, GreatBigStory.com. As a special correspondent for CNN, he has hosted several award-winning shows including Going Green and Expedition Sumatra. His conservation efforts are focused on solving global social and environmental problems. In 2004 Philippe co-founded EarthEcho International, a leading environmental education nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring youth to take action for a sustainable planet. Philippe has also hosted and keynoted various events for the United Nations, Harvard University, USC, the Society of Environmental Journalists and many more. He has testified before Congress and most recently presented at TEDx Pennsylvania Ave.
For over a decade, Ashlan was a red carpet regular and worked as a special correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and previously reported for E! News for seven years. She’s also a passionate environmentalist who has been recognized in international media for her work in conservation. At the request of the United Nations, she has served as host for the UN’s convention on migratory species in Quito, Ecuador, and was selected by former Vice-President Al Gore to be the opening anchor for his internationally live broadcast of Climate Reality in 2015. Ashlan has also presented at the Society of Environmental Journalists, SXSW Eco, and TEDx Scott Base, the first TEDx conference to take place in Antarctica.
Ashlan and Philippe have collaborated together on numerous television specials. In 2016, they co-hosted “Nuclear Sharks” for Discovery’s Shark Week. Ashlan joined Philippe’s eccentric crew in season two of The Aquatic World of Philippe Cousteau. In 2015, they co-hosted a three-part series with Takepart.com, exploring tiger and rhino conservation in Nepal called Treasures of the Terai.
The adventurous couple resides in Los Angeles, California with their rescue dog, Kenai.
