National Splurge Day: Treat Yourself to These Delicious Dishes
Celebrate National Splurge Day with a few of our Food Paradise favorites.
Sunday, June 18 is National Splurge Day, folks. That’s right, a day dedicated to treating yourself. (Parks and Recreation's Donna Meagle and Tom Haverford would be proud.)
You may be thinking these national holidays aren't really a real thing. But when it’s National Cookie Day, we’ll enjoy a cookie. National Margarita Day? We’ll take two. National Fight Procrastination Day? We may forget about that one.
So, from the sweet to the savory, here are seven decadent dishes from Food Paradise to indulge in in honor of National Splurge Day. Tell us how you're celebrating on Twitter using the hashtag #FoodParadise.
Lobster Elote (Dos Chinos; Santa Ana, Calif.)
Deep fried lobster smothered in Monterey Jack cheese and sweet, grilled corn? Oh, yes.
Chocolate Soufflé (rise n2; Houston, Texas)
Take my money.
Ramen Burrito (Komodo; Los Angeles, Calif.)
You can have your ramen, and your burrito, too.
99 Problems (Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain; Brooklyn, N.Y.)
“And this sundae is one,” per the menu. No doubt that’s true.
Buffalo Mac and Cheese (Jacob’s Pickles; New York, N.Y.)
Buttermilk fried chicken and cheese: the ultimate power couple. (P.S. the dish has SIX different types of cheese in it.)
PIGferno (Boston Burger Company; Boston, Mass.)
Spicy pulled pork and onion rings, plus chili pepper mayo and habanero BBQ sauce to add a little kick to this behemoth of a sandwich – it should be called a meat tower, really.
The Minneapolis Bliss Hi Top (Hi-Lo Diner; Minneapolis, Minn.)
Sugar, spice and everything nice – literally everything (candied pecans, salted caramel, baked apples and vanilla glaze.)
