Nepalese Sky Caves

My cameraman and I were the first people to climb into these Nepalese sky caves in over 500 years. I’m trying to forget that we have to make the terrifying climb back down by admiring the view.

Tibetan Culture

The village of Lo Manthang in the remote Mustang region of Nepal is probably the best preserved example of Tibetan culture left on earth. Here, life carries on much as it has since the Middle Ages. Here, a woman weaves yarn by hand while wearing Rastafarian looking yak hair atop her head.

Dressing the Part, on the Equator

When taking a photo at the equator, you have to dress for both the southern and northern hemispheres.

South Africa's Anti-Poaching Unit

There are about 8,400 rhinos left in South Africa’s Kruger National Park. Armed anti-poaching units patrol the bush, but with nearly 1,000 rhinos killed in the park last year, it’s a dangerous, uphill battle.

Mummified Snow-Leopards

The monasteries of the Mustang Region in Nepal are mystical and protected places. This particular shrine is guarded by several mummified snow-leopards. I’m guessing these are highly effective in warding off intruders.

I was recently amazed to see the kid's size of the same sweatshirt a few thousand miles away in the high-altitude Nepalese village of Lo Manthang. Makes me wonder the journey it took to get here. Also, this adorable kid wears it much better than I did.
