Ghost Adventures Crew
The crew heads to Gallup, New Mexico, to investigate the El Rancho Hotel, which Zak refers to as "The Shining of New Mexico."
Welcome to the El Rancho
The owners shut down the entire hotel for the investigation, giving the crew unlimited access to the 40,000 sq ft property.
Hollywood History
The hotel was built in 1936 along the legendary Route 66 by R.E. Griffith, the brother of film director D.W. Griffith. It was once a second home to the Hollywood film productions that filmed Westerns in and around Gallup.
Paranormal Activity
Today, a dark wave of energy has recently caused several of employees to quit. The crew is on a mission to uncover the truth behind the disturbing occurrences at the hotel, as well as the adjacent property, the Bunk House.
Demonic Markings
The Bunk House acted as living quarters for film crews, and later, some hotel staff. A pentagram and the infamous number “666” were inscribed into a door here — both were covered up with a cross. Witnesses say these demonic markings were made by someone who engaged in satanic practices.
Underground Tunnels
Illegal gambling occurred inside the hotel, especially in the basement, and sex workers were snuck in via underground tunnels that once connected several downtown buildings.
The Hauntings
Two deaths by suicide have occurred at the El Rancho, specifically in rooms 108 and 214.
Lockdown Time
The crew discovers a horrific crime that hotel staff and owners didn’t even know about: the murder of bellhop Ben Harris. On January 21, 1945, El Rancho bellhop Willie Davis, 27, took Harris, 37, to the back of the hotel where he shot him eight times with a .22 revolver.
Is the terrifying activity a result of the El Rancho’s dark history? It’s time for an all-new lockdown, this Thursday at 9|8c.
