Graham Hughes embarks on a journey to set foot in every country on Earth in a single year. On leg one, he waves goodbye to England and launches himself through South America. He encounters a fast tiger, missed connections and the Andes.

Season 1, Episode 2

Leg 2: The Caribbean

Graham navigates the Caribbean by cargo ship and yacht. Haphazard connections wreak havoc on his schedule, but snorkeling and jerk chicken alleviate his frustration. He faces his biggest challenge yet -- gaining entry to Cuba.

Season 1, Episode 3

Leg 3: North America and Europe

Graham takes the law into his own hands and sets sail for Cuba illegally. He makes his way through Mexico, USA and Canada before jumping on a cargo ship to Europe. Without a Russian visa, he tries to wade into Russian territory.

Season 1, Episode 4

Leg 4: The Desert and West Africa

Graham runs into red tape crossing the Sahara Desert, then decides to take a leaky wooden boat 375 miles off the African coast to the Cape Verde islands. Instead of a welcoming party, he is greeted by the police.

Leg 5: The Road to Nigeria

Graham is arrested for people smuggling, then searches for a boat to take him back to the African mainland. Will decrepit transport, washed out roads and the rainy season squash his hopes of making it to the finish line?

Season 1, Episode 6

Leg 6: Central Africa

Graham tackles central Africa, hitching rides with nightmare drivers on hellish roads and sailing through the Atlantic. On his way though the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he's thrown in jail and left to rot by cops convinced that he's a spy.

Season 1, Episode 7

Leg 7: Central Africa and the Islands

Graham races 800 miles across war-ravaged Angola before his five-day visa expires. He hits the race track then sails through pirate-plagued waters where a lack of connections threatens to derail his journey.

Season 1, Episode 8

Leg 8: The Final Countdown

Graham is stuck on an African island with no way of escape. He desperately vows to get back the mainland, step foot in every country in eastern Africa and meet his girlfriend in Cairo by New Years Eve. Will he make it?
