1991: Rock Royalty
Ozzy posed for legendary rock photographer Martyn Goodacre in his early 40s and seemed a far cry from the bat-biting Satanist the tabloid press had made him out to be; in fact, a New York Times profile revealed the next year that he was a member of the Church of England and knelt to pray before each of his shows(!).
2002: Facing the Music
MTV’s countdown-and-variety-show high above Times Square was the place for A-listers to make cameos in the ‘90s and aughts; naturally, the stars of The Osbournes, its most-viewed series of all time, popped in for a chat.
2002: Late-Night Noise
Jay Leno welcomed Sharon, Ozzy and Kelly to the Tonight Show to celebrate The Osbournes’s success and the debut of Officially Osbourne, a guide to the show’s first season. Fair warning for the faint of heart: their conversation is very frank.
2002: Spring Break in Cancun
Sixteen-year-old Jack and 17-year-old Kelly made their way down to Mexico to join the legendary festivities at MTV’s annual fête. Given their tender ages (and angelic looks here), surely they didn’t get into too much trouble.
2002: The Osbournes Present...
The family teamed up at the 54th Emmys to hand off a statuette for Best Directing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program, an honor that went to the directors of the 2002 Winter Olympics’ Opening Ceremony. Could this have been where Jack got his taste for the movie business?
2004: Back in Black
The Osbournes took a break from filming to attend Sir Elton John’s legendary AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Party in 2004. Just six years later, Kelly would literally become a red-carpet pro: she spent 5 years as a commentator on E!’s Fashion Police.
2006: Ozzy and Marilyn
Ozzy co-presented with fellow gloom enthusiast Marilyn Manson at Spike TV’s Scream Awards (a celebration of sci-fi and horror that included categories like “Most Vile Villain” and “Most Memorable Mutilation”). The most satisfying thing about their pairing? We’re dead certain they did not coordinate outfits ahead of time.
2009: Nobody Puts Kelly in a Corner
Kelly and partner Louis van Amstel waltzed (and cha-cha’ed, tangoed and sambaed) their way across America’s screens in the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars. Their fancy footwork earned them third place at the end of the season — and four years later, Jack met them move for move and placed third in his own stint on the show with partner Cheryl Burke.
2010: Kicking Off The Talk
CBS announced the debut of The Talk — a show developed by actress Sara Gilbert to anchor its daytime programming after the cancellation of As the World Turns — in the summer of 2010. A decade later, the conversation is still going — and Sharon is the only co-host to appear in every single one of its 11 seasons.
2011: Movie Night
Kelly hit the red carpet to support her dad and her brother when God Bless Ozzy Osbourne premiered in 2011; Ozzy is the documentary’s subject, of course, but Jack is one of its proud co-producers. He was “kind of ecstatic” about the positive reception the film received: “It was going to go one of two ways—people either were going to say ‘That’s a pile of crap!” or ‘That’s awesome!’,” he told Billboard.com. “It seems to be like everything’s going the way I want it.”
2013: Glam Gala
Sharon and Ozzy dressed to the nines for the 40th annual Daytime Emmys, where Sharon and her co-hosts on The Talk were nominated for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show. Alas, the nod went to Ellen DeGeneres that year — but making a picture-perfect awards season appearance is its own triumph.
2014: Four-Legged Friends
The Osbournes’ well-documented love for dogs made Sharon and Kelly natural ambassadors for the first-annual Cause for Paws charity event in 2014. Six years later, Sharon’s “pack” is bigger than ever: she now has nine dogs and two cats (some of whom have their own portraits on her website).
2016: Observing the Sabbath
Ozzy and his Black Sabbath rocked the sold-out house at Madison Square Garden for the first of two farewell-tour nights in February of 2016, opening with “Black Sabbath” and ending their thundering set with “Paranoid.” As one critic put it, “there really wasn’t a moment when you weren’t hearing some of the best heavy metal ever written.”
2018: The Very End (Probably)
The Osbournes invited the press to their L.A. home (and debuted a killer retrospective photo cake) to announce Ozzy’s very last solo world tour, seriously, last one. Of course, the fact that that tour was called “No More Tours 2” will probably keep fans’ hopes alive — and given the playful unpredictability of the man of the hour, can you blame them?
2020: Family Night
In a fitting reunion, Sharon, Ozzy and Kelly will join Jack in Los Angeles’s Heritage Square to explore some of the city’s most paranormally lively Victorian homes. “Most families go pumpkin picking around Halloween,” Jack says. “The Osbournes — we go ghost hunting,” said Jack. “My family has always been intrigued by my work in the paranormal, so I decided it was time for them to experience it themselves. Expect crazy paranormal activity, creepy encounters – especially with Kelly, classic Osbourne humor and naturally, a few guest appearances from the dogs.” Tune in to Travel Channel for the two-hour premiere of The Osbournes: Night of Terror at 9|8c on Friday, October 30.
