It all started with a tweet: “So, my apartment is currently being haunted by the ghost of a dead child and he's trying to kill me.”

In the summer of 2017, former BuzzFeed writer and illustrator Adam Ellis revealed in a series of tweets that he was being haunted by the ghost of a child — who would later be known as “David” — in his New York City apartment. He documented the paranormal activity on his Twitter account, capturing the attention of millions on the internet. The saga that unfolded would become known as #DearDavid.

Now, Ellis, alongside pal and researcher Jen Lewis and paranormal investigator Paul Bradford, he’s diving deeper into the world of the supernatural for an all-new Travel Channel series Trending Fear. The trio will travel across the country, helping others take back their lives after unexplainable encounters with unknown entities. Will these hands-on investigations help Ellis to understand his own haunting? Time will tell.

Not only will the group use traditional methods in their paranormal pursuits, they’ll also use social media to crowdsource stories, theories and evidence to build a community and conversation around each case.

The six-episode series premieres Friday, Dec. 20 at 11|10c. Follow Travel Channel on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for more updates, and use the hashtag #TrendingFear to interact with fellow fans.
